A termination that late in the pregnancy is because of severe health risks to the child and/or mother.

It’s fucking amazing that you can sit there and act as if people who get late trimester abortions are just heartless people who got one for the lulz. You’re ridiculous.

I am so fucking sick and tired of seeing anti-choicers who go around talking about how bad abortion is and how it’s only ‘okay’ in certain situations, and then say “this is only my opinion, I’m not forcing anybody to do anything.” Maybe not physically, but by saying that some abortions are okay and some aren’t, saying that ‘adoption is always there’ and telling people to ‘close their legs’, you are telling them what they should and shouldn’t do. Not forcing somebody to do something would be saying “I understand why people get abortions and they should be able to do it.” It isn’t “You should only get abortion if x, y, z and if x, y or z didn’t happen you should just deal with it and not have sex.” 

It may ‘only be your opinion’ but it’s a fucking damaging opinion. As long as there are anti-choicers going around spreading lies about what abortion actually is, ignorant people will believe it. And sometimes these ignorant people get into office. When these ignorant people get into office, they perpetuate these false ideas they’ve been fed by other anti-choicers and they propose and enforce laws that make people with the ability to get pregnant suffer.

When you are ‘just voicing your opinion’, you’re one of many people ‘just voicing their opinion’. And unlike abortion, your opinion DOES kill people. 

But it’s not like anti-choicers care about those who have already been born, so whatever, right?

An abortion is the termination resulting in the death of a human being. Here are some proofs:

Judging by your wonderful capitalization, I’m going to have a great time with this.

- you can’t deny biology, life begins at conception. if you say, “well it’s just pregnancy tissue”, then you’re ignoring the fact that you were once said tissue. now how did that happen? does your birth make you a human being? what about mothers who had a c-section, that is not a traditional birth, are those people not human because they didn’t pass through the uterus and vagina? This idea of ‘weighing out the options’ really fails hard here, as there is an absolute right or wrong in this case.

No smart pro-choicer will deny that a fetus is alive. That does not make it a human being with rights. That happens when you are born, which also includes a birth by Cesarean section. I’ve never heard this argument before, and it’s frankly dumb. Cesarean sections are done usually out of medical necessity only, and it’s just as valid a birth as a vaginal one.

- why is abortion legal, if murder isn’t? it’s the same principle. think about what a fetus really is. it’s easy to be pro-choice when it isn’t your life in question. what’s really happening with an abortion is taking away the potential for human life to continue, same as murder is taking away the continuation of that person’s life.

It isn’t murder if the fetus isn’t a human being with rights. It’s simply killing. There is a difference between the two.

Yes, the murder of a pregnant person counts as a double homicide—and it should not be. Murder of a disabled person, perhaps, depending on how far into the pregnancy we are. This also depends on whether the murderer in question wanted to kill the fetus against its biological mother’s will. The mother’s choice in the matter is the central question.

For those of you who support choices: that choice is murder.

- some women stress that their career is in danger, their parents will get pissed (if they’re young), that they can’t support the baby. there’s something called adoption, you can give your baby up for that, many people would love to have a baby because they can’t. people should not give you respect for continuing your career or education which results in the loss of a baby, but respect for allowing your child to have his/her life.

Adoption is not an alternative to pregnancy. It’s an alternative to parenthood, and sometimes the state of being pregnant is the bigger problem. Pregnancy increases your chance to be murdered, and it’s often by that person’s partner. Murder accounts for 20% of the deaths of pregnant people. Also, many young teens who end up pregnant live in abusive households. In fact, teens from abusive households are statistically more likely to become pregnant as teenagers. It’s not just about parents “getting pissed”—it’s about a clear and present danger to the teen.

That statistic is bullshit. Rape is the most underreported crime in the world, so any statistics on its survivors are unreliable. I’ve never seen a single citation for this statistic, and now you’re adding disabilities to the mix as well? Prove this or concede the point. That’s how grown-up debating works. You don’t get to make up your own facts.

how do we prevent this?

- stop having casual sex, having sex is for making babies. if you really can’t hold out, use a condom.

NO IT FUCKING WELL IS NOT. There are some people who never want children. You really expect them to never have sex? And hell, birth control fails, condoms break, and rape happens. What’s a woman to do then? Stop your slut-shaming.

- prevent rape from happening. (i don’t know how to do this, this world is fucked up) also, if a woman is raped she should alert the authorities.

At least we can agree here. How about we teach men not to rape instead of teaching women to not get raped? That would be a good place to start.

Also, alerting the authorities isn’t always effective. Even though rape is underreported, there are so many rape kits just sitting around in police stations waiting to expire.

- provide favourable conditions for the baby so there isn’t any issues (no alcohol for fetal alcohol syndrome, etc.)

It’s not a baby, but a fetus. Anyway, providing resources for pregnant people is all well and good, but it’s still not going to eradicate the need for abortion. Abortion will always be a medical necessity.

- take responsibility for your actions (i’m talking to the guys too).

Sex is not only for reproduction. In humans, it’s a method of bonding. And again, there are plenty of people who never want children. Should they be expected to never have sex? I don’t think so.
